This policy explains what SwipeDrop (“the app”, “we”) does and does not do with your information. It applies to the SwipeDrop mobile app for iOS and Android and to this website.
The summary
- Your photos never leave your device. All scanning, duplicate detection, blur scoring and grouping happens locally on your phone.
- We do not have an account system. You do not register, and we hold no profile about you.
- We use no analytics, advertising or tracking SDKs. We do not collect an advertising identifier and we do not track you across apps or websites.
- We operate no server that receives your data. The app’s only outbound network connection is to the subscription service described below.
Access to your photo library
The app asks for permission to read your photo library so it can show you your photos and find clutter in them. If you grant access to only a selection of photos, the app works with just those.
Reading your library also lets the app compute, on your device, the information it needs to do its job: image fingerprints used to spot duplicates and near-duplicates, a sharpness score used to spot blurry shots, and basic file details such as size, type and capture date. This information is generated on your phone, stored on your phone, and never transmitted.
The app also asks for permission to modify your library so it can delete the photos you choose to delete, and save compressed videos and converted stills back to your library.
What is stored on your device
The app keeps a local database on your phone containing the analysis results above, your staged (not yet confirmed) delete decisions, your cleanup history and statistics, and your settings. This database is part of the app’s storage on your device. Deleting the app removes it.
Subscriptions
SwipeDrop Pro is an in-app subscription. Purchases are processed by Apple’s App Store or Google Play, and subscription status is managed for us by RevenueCat, Inc., acting as our processor.
To check whether you have an active subscription, RevenueCat receives a randomly generated app user identifier along with purchase and device information such as your platform, app version and country. This identifier is not linked to your name, your email address or your photos, and no photo or photo-derived data is ever sent to RevenueCat or to us.
Apple and Google handle the payment itself under their own privacy policies. We never see your payment details.
Notifications
If you turn on reminders, notifications are scheduled locally by your phone. No push server is involved and nothing about your library is sent anywhere in order to deliver them. You can turn them off at any time in the app’s settings or your device settings.
Links out of the app
The app can open your browser or mail app for the privacy policy, terms, the store listing and support email. Once you leave the app, the privacy policy of that site or service applies.
This website
This site is a set of static pages. It sets no cookies, runs no analytics and has no sign-up form. Our hosting provider processes standard server request logs, which may include IP addresses, for the purpose of serving and securing the site.
Children
SwipeDrop is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them. Since the app collects no personal information at all, there is nothing for us to delete on request — uninstalling the app removes everything it stored.
Your rights
Because we hold no personal data about you, there is no account to access, correct or export. All data the app creates lives on your device and is removed when you uninstall it. If you want your subscription record removed from RevenueCat, email us and we will request its deletion.
Changes to this policy
If the app ever begins collecting information — for example if crash reporting is added — this policy will be updated before that change ships, and the date at the top will change.
